| | | Re: Duck ID Please This type of duck is a fairly common 'type' in poultry circles. Originally bred from Mallards and Pekin Ducks (all white) to give poultry owners some interesting colour forms,but to produce a deeper bellied bird (from the Pekin) for eating!!!
But manky mallards is still a great name....lol |

I slightly object to the term manky mallard as some of these birds are pedigree domestics with hundreds of years of careful breeding in their lineage. A labrador isn't exactly a manky wolf is it? (or maybe it is to wolf lovers!!)
Admitedly they escape and then breed with other domestics or pure mallards (if any such ducks still exist in urban areas) and produce crazy inbetweens which may be more suited to the title of manky. |
