| | | Re: Duck ID Not seen a Gadwall yet  but the images from my books show that the bill changes colour in winter...well it only shows the male so I'm not sure if that applies to the female.

Whilst the Collins book is generally very good it does not always show all the permutations depending on season etc.

Stan | I don't think I have ever seen an adult male in full breeding plumage without a black bill. I suppose there's always a dodgy period between eclipse and full plumage though.
