| | | Bird song at night Opposite my house is a small wood, the road I live in is a culdesac with only a few houses and just a single street lamp, it is very dark and quiet. Normally the only birds we hear at night are the odd pheasant or the owls. For the last few nights there has been a songbird singing at regular intervals throughout the night.
We do get the odd Nightingale in the spring but don't normally hear any songbirds at night, especially during the winter months.
Is this normal ? |

| | | Re: Bird song at night I'd put money on it being a Robin- they regularly sing at night, especially where there are streetlights around. |

| | | Re: Bird song at night Yep, we have a resident Robin who sits on the shed roof and sings his little heart out. I've been a bit of an insomniac lately and have heard him during the night......along with the Tawny Owls!

| | | Re: Bird song at night I think it's a Robin as well, he'll be defending his territory from other males. At this time of year he has to be on the lookout for youngsters that are looking for a territory of their own and Robins that are dispersing from their northern and upland areas of Britain for slightly milder weather.
