| | | Goldcrest In my garden.
For the last two weekends, i have gone to WWT Arundel, where there are notice's, that there are Goldcrest and Firecrest there, It tells you where they are and where to look for them
I have never seen either, and didn't see any at Arundel
This morning, i sat having coffee in the kitchen, watching the birds in the garden. Saw a small unknown bird hopping very quickly from branch to branch in a evergreen tree, in my garden.
Grabbed my binoculars and saw my first Goldcrest
Trouble is, that it mover's about so fast, in and out of the branches, that i cant get my camera to focus on it
Lovely little bird |

| | | Re: Goldcrest I get the impression there's been a larger than normal influx of Goldcrests this autumn- I'm certainly seeing larger numbers than normal. This morning I was leading a bird walk + there were 4 with a Long-tailed Tit flock. A few Firecrests about in London too. |

I'd never heard of them, till two weeks ago
Beginning to wonder what else is going to appear in my garden, that is new to me, now. |

| | | Re: Goldcrest My husband is one of those people who can't hear them, he says sometimes when they are near it's almost like a pain in his ears, but he can never hear them properly. Luckily I can.
We were at Uath Lochans in Glenfeshie forest last Sunday and saw 30 of them. We do occasionally see one in the garden, but have never managed to get a decent photo, there or elsewhere. Hubby calls them hyperactive.
I saw something recently on TV which said that Goldcrests have to spend 95% of their waking hours eating in winter just to survive, which is why they are constantly on the move after food. |

That certainly puts all my 'problems' into perspective, imagine having to work that hard for food everyday I have never seen a goldcrest so I'm a bit envious gaza | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
