| | | Sparrowhawk versus shopping hmmmm! After lunch today I was supposed to be going shopping (not my favourite pastime). When I looked out of the window there was this sparrowhawk having lunch on my birdbath. Retrieved my camera from upstairs and managed a couple of photos (my usual standard ). I ended up watching him for 40minutes. After polishing off his meal he had a drink, washed his face and then pooped in the bird bath He then sat on the fence for a while to let his meal go down.
I went and checked for debris and I found plenty of feathers and half a beak
Needless to say I didn't go shopping today. Well you can go shopping anyday, but you don't get a sparrowhawk having lunch everyday. |

What bird was it? I guess it was a Blackbird or Starling, I think the latter...
I just hope his... odour he dropped in the bath doesn't put the birds off using it

I thought i saw one a couple of christmas's ago in mine but i wasn't sure if it was a kestrel at the time?
It did have the bird of prey beak and was fairly big and we always have a garden full of house sparrows at the best of time so you never know only a months to go now
could have been the SHERRY i spose?? |
