| | | What reserve? Hi,
Im thinking of taking my Sigmonster for a test run this week. What are the best reserves to take this beast to in my area? I was going to go to Minsmere but I thought I would ask if there are any others that may be better in the Essex / Suffolk area. By better I mean better for my shots as I find those hides make my lens jump as I dont have a heavy enough tripod yet and I dont need lots of jumping kids
I did hear of a goo Stone Curlew site near by????

| | | Re: What reserve? no its norfolk wildlife trust - as you work for essex wt they might let you in gratis out of proffesional courtesy , otherwise it is £2.50 for non members. I'd be quick if i was you as stoneys start departing fairly soon.
Hide wise they have three facing compartment 4 which is normally the most used - sometimes the stonies come very close , and sometimes they dont - if they are at the back of the compartment you'll definitely need the sigmonster plus possibly a tc as well, but if they come to the front they might be too close for the monster so make sure you take some short glass as well.
you can also get access to view compartments 1 and 2 from the greenlane, which is only accessible from firetrail 49 to the west of the heath as it is blocked at the eastern end. - if you do this you'll need a 4x4 (or a car you dont care about) cos its a bit rough and make sure you stay in the car as you will scare the birds if you get out

| | | Re: What reserve? Kris, can't help with reserves as you are at the wrong side of the country. Unless you fancy Stodmarsh NR just north of Canterbury, you can set your watch by a kingfisher there which is accessible from a public hide that has openings that will take big lens .
Main thought that should be useful to you. Buy a beanbag and shoot from the car :-) They work a treat with the big lenses |
