What's the Highest number of Whooper Swans You Have Seen?

Me and my friend went to a patch of farmland today looking to get some last plants of the year. Guess what we got!

216whooper swans. they seemed to be feeding on the stubble left behind from the farmers harvest. Has anyone seen so many?

I've never actually counted them but there is often a goodly sized group feeding on stubble around the Fluke Hall area - and pink feet too......

A great sight/sound too, also many Bewick's + Mutes too.

Last winter i saw what seemed like hundreds landing in a field in Gloucestershire, on there way to Slimbridge area.

Was great seeing them flying in a large group aswell.

Beautiful birds

1200+ regularly gather in front of the hide for the evening swan feed at Welney WWT Reserve here on the Cambs/Norfolk border - it's a spectacular sight!

These would have been Bewick's Swans as Slimbridge doesn't normally get Whoopers; the Wash is the most southerly regualr location for sizeable flocks.

I've been told there's a few back up our way, will hopefully get out to see them soon. Saw a few last year, very elegant creatures indeed.
