| | | Blackbird on pyracantha I was working in the garage today when I heard a jet fighter overhead. I went and got my camera in case it was the Typhoon that I had snapped previously with very average results. It wasn't.
I kept my camera nearby. I then heard a blackbird on the fence around the pyracantha that was loaded with berries.
I took some snaps from inside the garage and here they are - the first lot show the bird near the top of the fence - the second lot show her a lot lower down in the relative dark.
Just some fun.

Typhoon are great. We get the falcons from canwell, and the ajax's from waddington daily. Plus Typhoons, red arrows, tornados and all sorts of american stuff from cotesmore, conningsby and Scampton. not to mention all the other trainer stuff.
Special though was when the Vulcun took me completely by surprise, at low level, on route to waddington !! The battle of Britian surprises me sometimes also.
I've got some great photo's of typhoons going over! About 200 of them !
My photo's of the vulcan are my fave though |

I noticed loads of blackbirds here yesterday - counted 12 in a very small area. Mostly they looked like youngsters. They were enjoying the berries on my cottoneaster, and the neighbours pyracantha too. I was wondering where they'd suddenly all appeared from! Wish they'd bring some Waxwings |

the berries...I can't wait to see them fall off, the woodies I mean (see my earlier submissions regardings these unpleasant birds |

| | | Re: Blackbird on pyracantha Nice shots Colin. We have a largish Pyracantha that the Blackbirds love, unfortunately the berries are not ripe yet (must be a different variety to yours) Anyway it's surprising how difficult it is to get a shot of a Blackbird with a berry actually in the beak. Well caught
