Apparently the girl is slightly smaller, but not enough physically to sex one from a photo. The best way is by call, the boys hiss and girl's have a cackling call or so I've read.

A couple of years ago a pair turned up on my little local patch on one of the resevoirs now theres about 10 of them they even scare the canadas awayyou can certainley here them coming in onto the res at night

I've not seen an Egyptian goose yet, but I have to admit that they are not the prettiest goose out there. Sorry if anyone is offended by that! Good photo though!

Always plenty in North Norfolk, especially around Cley. Although I saw one at Leighton Moss the other week as well.

I saw around... 6 on the river running parrallel with Hampton Court Palace - my first time of seeing them

Jason, that river's the Thames. They get quite a few down there.

There seems to be a large (at least relatively) population in West London. Ive seen them in Kew Gardens and Richmond park. In Regents Park the was a mass influx this year. I managed to photograph the entire circumference of one the birds rings (talk about a cooperative subject!) and sent it off to the BTO, who duly replied saying it had been ringed in richmond park, so I guess there spreading across london from the west

I've seen c40 near Hampton Court + in the last few years have become much more widespread around London; I've seen up to 20 on Clapham Common, breeding birds at Kew + Richmond Park, birds in Kensington Gardens/Hyde Park amongst other places.

I saw 47 on the Diana Fountain pond at Bushy Park opposite Hampton Court once.
