| | | Starlings in Somerset This is my first post so forgive me if I'm duplicating an earlier one. Does anybody know if the starlings are back at Westhay or Shapwick yet? I think it might still be a bit early for them. |

Don't know about the question but i remember when migrating starlings used to be packed into their many thousands and almost black out the sky - slight exaguration to prove the point |

| | | Re: Starlings in Somerset Guessing you mean roost build ups? if so I was at the Gretna roost over the weekend and had 100,000+ doing their spectacular pre roost sky ballet, so numbers are building up here in the north.

| | | Re: Starlings in Somerset I've just been on the Ham Wall RSPB 'mini site' and apparently if you call the Avalon Marshes Starling Hotline - 07866 554142 - they can tell you the latest .
You can have a look at the interactive map for the other reserves The RSPB: Reserves

| | | Re: Starlings in Somerset Hi Chris,
Hope you are well, how is my old haunt?
I tried to send you a message and some pics by e-mail some time ago, but sent it to your old e-mail address. I think you forwarded me a new one, but i must have failed to add it to my address book!
Anyway, hope you are OK! I managed to get a reasonable picture of an otter at Shapwick, also got pics of a grass snake swimming at Ham Wall! So things are still OK down here. The Starlings are flocking at Shapwick heath at the moment .... am looking forward to when the numbers increase significantly, in the hope that we get some good aeronautical displays.
