| | | Green bird? Hello folks I am new to this site and I have an identification question.
The other day I was walking past a car park in the middle of town when a green bird flew out of a Rowan tree, at first I thought it was an escaped parrot or parakeet. It landed on a nearby roof and it was about the size of a blackbird, pointed beak and quite a long tail. It was too big for a greenfinch any ideas? |

| | | Re: Green bird? The only thing I can think of would be a Ring-necked parakeet, going by the size and long tail, but the bill on a parakeet is hooked rather than pointed.

If so, a green woodpecker.
I should mention that this is significantly bigger than a blackbird.
