| | | my first bullfinch Saw my first bullfinches today at Pennington Flash in Leigh ( nr Manchester ).
What fantsatic looking birds they are - although slightly camp in their pink feathers!
They were using the feeding station freely along with several willow tit's, greenfinches, robins and a rat!
All was going well until a sparrowhawk perfromed a fly-by within a couple of feet of the hide - luckily it didn't catch anything.
What a great day though - we're going to go back tomorrow so that Stu can test his 2x converter. Hopefully we will have some piccies to share with you.

| | | Re: my first bullfinch No it's an extension that you put on the back on your lens which doubles the focal length of the lens but halves the light it lets in ( had the ask the other half for that definition ) |

Don't they make a mournful sound though?
They always sound so depressed |

| | | Re: my first bullfinch They are lovely little birds, I haven't seen one on my patch for years.
When I was a lad I can remember them putting up mist nets in the orchards to catch Bullfinches, apparently they did a lot of damage to the emerging buds on the fruit trees. |
