| | | First Long-tailed Tit today Hi all.
This little guy or girl dropped in to see me today. first Long-tailed Tit we have had in the garden for ages.
A gang of half a dozen-or so dropped in mid morning. I was just setting the camera up and only managed a quick shot of this one the last to leave. it was good to see them again after the summer absence.

nice picture | That was my thought as well Cheryl. I was all fingers and thumbs trying to get the camera on the tripod before they decided to leave and they aren't half quick litle things.

Bet your well pleased with that as they move so fast don't they
We get about six or seven at a time flying over as well as we have two large fir trees that back onto our garden |

| | | Re: First Long-tailed Tit today Lovely shot, Roger. We had a quick hit and run gang of them in the garden last week too, so I hope they are back for the winter. I love the noise they make - it reminds me of a squeaky yellow plastic duck I had when I was little. |

| | | Re: First Long-tailed Tit today Hi Jules and Smartie.
They are certainly very entertaining and there's no mistaking that high pitched whistle or squeak. I find the chirruping and chattering they make when they are together fascinating as well. If only we could understand bird language

it is difficult trying to get a good picture,i never know which one to follow, just as you try and take a pic of one another appears only to dissapear then the next one etc etc..
and usually they all pass through without a single pic being taken

keith | Know the feeling Keith, I have had that happen on more than one occasion, not so much in the garden but when I've been out.
