thought I would post these as I was looking for some activities wild life related to engage children with Think I'll be recycling a few coconut shells lots more on bbc breathing spaces

Hi Gess, some great ideas there. We have cats so are reluctant to put out feeders in the garden, but are thinking about feeders at somewhere else we know. Should be fun for the kids ( & us ) to make as well.

I think the home-made cone feeder is a bally good idea. They are actually disposable (and compostable) and you can come home with bags of them for free after an average walk. You could make a batch of them, and hang them one or two at a time. When the birds have finished, don't bother with all that cleaning, stick them in the compost. This could be the answer to Trichomoniasis. I like!

My thoughts exactly ... just hoping for better weather tomorrow, will be off gathering

I like the pine cone & the plastic milk bottle idea, I will have to give that a try. Today I have blunted one junior hacksaw blade so far, trying to saw a coconut in half!
