A flurry of activity in the garden this morning

Hi All

Thanks goodness my birds have come back.

I was watching out of the window before work ( the only time i can see them in daylight now sob ) and from somewhere have aquired a small gang of sparrows , 2 dunnocks, various blue tits, great tits and coal tits, 2 blackbirds, a jay, a woodpecker and my local angry robin. The long tailed tits seem to have disappeared though??

The sparrows are all feeding on my globe feeder - is this normal as I though they were ground feeders?? They empty it in about two days which is cool as I thought the squirrel had been at it again!

What has everyone else seen over the last couple of days?

Thats great to have all those birds come visit you its the Dunnocks that ground feed the sparrows will emty your feeders in know time.

That's good - I thought I had some mutant sparrows then.

The dunnocks seem to spend all time walking up and down the fence thinking about hopping down so I took pity on them and put some seeds on the fence for them

Think I must have a mutant Dunnock because as said they are generally ground feeders but our Dunnock feeds from the hanging feeders. He/she isn't shy either, sits on the branches just above the feeders or in the Berberis bush at the side while I fill the feeders

The dunnocks are always ground feeders here ,but the sparrows will hang from certain feeders. sheila

Maybe your dunnock is having an identity crisis ... maybe he thinks he's a bluetit

Mine come in pairs but knowing them they're probably having a sordid affair!!!
