Strange behaviour

my thread yesterday said no birds but this morning I sat watching a coal tit and was amazed. It kept flying to the sunflower feeder then down to a shrub. It then set about bury the seed under the shrub in the loose leaves. I was sure it was hiding food has anyone else spotted this behaviour, I thought only jays and magpies hid food?

More birds in garden today

Coal Tits regularly cache food like this- taking advantage in times of plenty to bury food for when there may be a shortage. The bird doesn't realise that your provisions are unlikley to run out!

thanks aeshna5 hope I can watch its behavior again tomorrow itll be fun if there is snow on the ground
