| | | Re: Feed the birds weekend I feed the birds everyday..
What annoys me is the neighbours will feed them for the day my birds sod off for the day then come back later. Why cant they have a campaign where they feed for the winter or all year round not just the day..
Its the same with the garden birdwatch..people just put food out that day normally bread just to attract them for the count.. |

| | | Re: Feed the birds weekend Yep, ours get fed around the year.
I wouldn't mind if the neighbours ever fed them - they're a miserable lot round here with their sterile sprayed, clipped and pruned gardens - no room for wildlife in their plots, or heads, for that matter.
Sorry, rant over.
It's a good idea to promote bird feeding, Susie and something that the younger members can get involved in.

| | | Re: Feed the birds weekend Lol. I get that when I do the bird count. I usually feed the birds all year round (this year being an exception as I stop feeding them because my chaffinches got sick and I didn't want to spread the virus) then when it comes to the bird count my neighbours put out food and nick all my birds! Grrrrr.
Anyway, going back to feed the birds weekend ...
It is worth checking out your local RSPB reserve as they may be doing something special. My local reserve (Pulborough Brooks) is free for visitors. The RSPB: Pulborough Brooks: Events |

| | | Re: Feed the birds weekend What is it that your neighbours have in the garden that attracts the bullfinches, Phoebe? Fruit trees, tree cover, a different sort of bird food ...? |

| | | Re: Feed the birds weekend Susie, sorry I've only just picked up on your reply to this one. My neighbour does have an orchard with mostly apple trees, (I only have one apple tree) she has walnut trees and lots of others. I have only beech and hazel trees. She does not feed the bird as much as I do. But her orchard sort of juts into my land at the end. Hmm I need to look more toward the back maybe... | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
