| | | Not quite my first goldcrest! But I'm still very excited.
Nearly 2 years ago, I posted this thread My first goldcrest!
I saw my first goldcrest a week before I moved house.
Well at my now not so new house nearly 2 years later, I can report I saw my second goldcrest today! And it was just as gorgeous and just as exciting and my husband is just as indifferent to my excitement.
Imagine how I was when, half an hour later, I spotted not 1, not 2 but 3 of them.
Aren't they lovely? |

Aren't they lovely? | I can relate to your thrill of seeing them. They're smashing little birds.

| | | Re: Not quite my first goldcrest! That is a bird I would love to have in my garden. Next door had one a couple of years ago and the only benefit I had with that bird is that it flew over my garden.
Keep your eye open for them now as if you are getting three of them you might have them visiting you more often than you thought.
They are stunning little birds and a bird I have yet to get a decent photo of.

It took all my effort to keep them in the field of vision though my binoculars they were so quick. I kept losing them. |

| | | Re: Not quite my first goldcrest! I agree they are great little birds and I'm pleased to hear that you have had a visit from them. They are incredibly fast little things and never seem to stand still even for a split second. This does cause problems when trying to photograph them, and they are often in the darkest most inaccessible part of the tree/bush etc.
In the three years that I have been photographing birds this is the best photograph of one that I have managed. It's not perfect but it's as good as I can ever see me getting.

Roger | I think you're being unduly modest Ollie- that is a cracking photo of a Goldcrest + it's hard to see how it can be improved on! | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
