Feeding Pheasants

I'm in trouble with my wife.
I have been feeding the Pheasants in my garden and they are tearing the flower beds to bits.
Lots of expense next spring for new flowers.

Re: Feeding Pheasants

Hi Kayleigh,
Yes I am lucky enough to have two families of Moorhens in the garden.
I dug a wildlife pond at the bottom of the garden a few years ago and now it is established I have all sorts of birds and animals in residence. Also a lot of dragonflies during the summer months, some days the garden is full of them.

I love your innovative wildlife ideas, snake. That feeding station looks fantastic. And your pond makes me very envious

Re: Feeding Pheasants

Why exactly are you feeding pheasants?
Is it for culinary purposes?

Doesn't your wife think the pheasants look far nicer than any garden flowers, I certainly do and for the most part are much nicer tasting.

Re: Feeding Pheasants

Hi Paul,
I just like to watch them. When I get up in the morning I sit by my patio window with a nice mug of tea and watch their antics, feeding, chasing each other about, the cocks sparring up, scratching up my wifes' flower beds I can't think of a better way to start the day. They feel safe here. On days when they are shooting we have them fly into the garden for shelter, it is a safe haven for them, they need somewhere to go and they are more than welcome in my garden. If the price to pay is a few flowers in the spring then it is well worth it. Mind you, they do eat a lot of corn especially when the weather gets hard.
