Just had a visit from the sparrow hawk he didnt get one off my Sparrows, it had a lovely orange breast on it.

| | | Re: Birds back in the Garden Well we have birds all year round really, but we're pretty rural. We had birds all throughout the breeding season with various types and ages of fledglings visiting the feeders at this time with their moulting parents. There was a quiet spell a few weeks back with only the coal, blue, & great tits, robins, dunnocks, and house sparrows visiting - but we've got our goldfinches and siskins back from their few weeks feeding off bushes, and the long-tailed tits are starting to visit again. I expect later in the year we'll get the occasional thrush (other than blackbirds), willow tits, great spotted woodpecker, and hopefully the bullfinches may visit again. |

| | | Re: Birds back in the Garden Yes they do kind of wander off for a couple of months, the robin has just come back last week after an absence and it brought a friend with it,
Just waiting on the wren puting in an appearance to complete the sequence,
the blue tits shunned both my boxes this year but have come back to the garden as have the great tits , not got the siskins back yet and only one greenfinch so far,

| | | Re: Birds back in the Garden Have only started studying and feeding birds in the garden, for the last 12 months. So very new to all this
Never had a Goldfinch in the garden till i put out niger seed, now we have around 24 of them here daily, so we now have 2 niger feeders out
Blue and Great tits have just started appearing, Had Dunnocks in the spring, but haven't seen them for a while, Like wise Greenfinch's, also Long Tail Tits
Always got plenty of Blackbirds, Sparrow's, Starling's, Dove's and Pigeons
We seem to be attracting various birds of prey. Dont know what type
Very seldom quiet here

| | | Re: Birds back in the Garden The starlings have still not come back to their usual amount but I still get a few. The sparrows at the front of the house have been coming all year round.
The greenfinches haven't been back yet but I do have goldies, blue tits, coal tits, robins and my first great tit for years the other week. |

| | | Re: Birds back in the Garden Hi All
I've seen bluetits, coal tits, great tits and a small army of long tail tits.
Also got a few sparrows a couple of weeks back which seem to have disappeared, a dunnock who spends most of his time deciding what to do and the robin who stands on top of the bird table but doesn't actually appear to eat anything.
My GSW is a daily vistitor now and he's just so fab that I have to drop what I'm doing to watch him.
Would give my right arm for a goldfinch - or any kind of finch for that matter!

| | | Re: Birds back in the Garden I have sparrows, blue tits, great tits, robins, coal tits, GSW, nuthatches, greenfinches, chaffinch and goldfinches that are there most of the time. I see these every day.
Certainly my siskins and dunnocks are conspicuous by their absence - I'm hoping the siskins will be back soon. Also the blackbirds have been busy elsewhere and rarely in the garden at the moment. Starlings seem to come in waves, you certainly hear when they are about.
I was lucky enough to have a blackcap eating the ivy seeds last year and was around a few weeks. If he comes back I'll be trying for a good photo
