| | | Possible Thrush Identifiction Hello folks
This may be a long shot as the photos are not great but I know their are folks on here with loads of knowledge who might be able to pass comment.
Taken yesterday whilst I was waiting for a bus! The weird repetetive call is what caught my attention. Is this a Song or a Mistle Thrush? And how come I used to see Thrushes all the time when I was a kid and now I rarely see one?
Thank you |

| | | Re: Possible Thrush Identifiction Hi Twitch ...
The fact that you mention "repetitive" song .. and the fact that the bird was singing from an elevated & exposed position .. makes me inclined to think .. Mistle Thrush ..
As for a lack of Thrushes .. I'm sure your question will generate a lot of theories .. dwindling habitat, scarcity of suitable food sources etc ..
Bye for now ..
Kev ..

| | | Re: Possible Thrush Identifiction I agree its a Thrush but which one is another fact as its hard to tell without a clear pic of the chest,The markings on the Song Thrush are more arrow shaped whilst the Mistle are more rounded without a clear pic of the chest hard to tell.
As to scarcity its all down I believe to the dwindling habitat and food

| | | Re: Possible Thrush Identifiction Hi,
I'm going to guess Mistle thrush, because it was singing repeatedly from a high prominent post. A Song thrush will sing from a prominent post as well, but prefers a lower one than the Mistle thrush.

| | | Re: Possible Thrush Identifiction 110% Mistle - I can always tell from the prominant eye made so by lighter markings there, and the upright stance; it stands taller than other resident thrushes
