| | | Goldfinches and House Sparrows Hi all
Today I paid one of my regular visits to my chiropractor for some manipulation on my back. Was feeling a little sore after this and had been advised to take it easy for the rest of the day by the chiropractor. I decided to get the camera out and take some shots of the Goldfinches and anything else that came to the feeding station in the garden.
I can do this by sitting on a high chair at the bedroom window with the camera mounted on a hide clamp on the windowsill.
The Goldfinches obliged today visiting on a regular basis so here are a few shots of them at various ages and stages of plumage.
Roger
First an adult I reckon anyway
Another adult
I think but aren't sure this is a first brood youngster from this year
Definitely a this years youngster
And a couple of House Sparrows from the many that dropped in today. I think these two photos are actually the same bird. |

| | | Re: Goldfinches and House Sparrows Great photo's Ollie. I tried to get pics of the Goldfinches on our feeders while hiding in the car (using it as a type of hide) - but suprisingly (or not) it didnt really work
Think I need to splash out on a bigger lense |

| | | Re: Goldfinches and House Sparrows Lovely shots Roger. We've got a few goldfinches that are at at varying maturities. House Sparrows are less abundant in my garden, so are very welcome when they do arrive.

Ron. We never used to get Goldfinches until I tried Niger seed. They have been regular visitors for well over a year now.

| | | Re: Goldfinches and House Sparrows Goldfinches are the new Sparrows in our garden. I can't remember how many years we've had the feeders out but I do remember it was a major event if we did get Goldfinch we now get them in flocks all day, with a few Sparrows and Tits. |
