| | | Cormorant wing dry Usually when we see cormorants they are perched much too far away to . However when we went into one of the hides at WWT Arundel yesterday one was perched very close but...... he had his back towards us!! Managed to get a few shots as he turned his head and this one with one wing spread out to dry.

| | | Re: Cormorant wing dry I know it's often said that they spread their wings out to dry - but I recall a letter some years ago (possibly in British Birds) describing one adopting this pose in pouring rain!

| | | Re: Cormorant wing dry That's a superbly detailed shot! I encountered a cormorant in unusual circumstances in Arundel too. Like you say, they're nearly always very distant but this particular one was standing on a wooden post right at the side of the road, with holiday makers walking within metres of it. It didn't seem remotely bothered either, until I took the lens cap off my camera and it made a run for it. My camera lens cap often has that effect

| | | Re: Cormorant wing dry Hi Deer Boy
I have confused you . You did comment on the cormorant I posted earlierr in the week - this one is from a couple of weeks back.
Until these two occasions, different places, I had never seen them so close before
Thanks for looking
Regards
