| | | Best Kingfisher so far pt 2 I was walking the dog around a local reclaimed tip which is now a fishing pond, there were a family of Great Crested Grebes that have bred on there with three youngsters, i could hear Chiffchaffs and Willow Warblers, even a few Woodpeckers, the pond itself is only half the size of a football field but i thought on a lovely sunday morning that it would be nice if it only had it's own Kingfisher,
ten minutes later i looked into a nearbye tree and sitting there quite the thing was this female Kingfisher.
Well my jaw almost hit the floor, i took out the camera and took quite a few shots before gingerly walking slowly forward until it finally flew a few yards away and out of view, after inquiring of one of the fisherman i found that the bird had been there for two years, well this little spot will be seeing a lot more of me in the future
to tell the truth the pictures look a lot better on the computer than they do on here
Frank

| | | Re: Best Kingfisher so far pt 2 Had another wander round the pond and the Kingfisher was still there but keeping it's head down as there were quite a few kids and three or four fishermen knocking about and as i stood watching it sitting under a tree in the shade, i started to think about all the times i had been round this spot in the last two years and saw nothing and then realised that quite a few people were passing me bye without even an inkling that this wonderful little bird was less than ten feet away, so it really is not that big a surprise that i had not seen it before and i WAS looking
