| | | A to Z of British birds Just been looking at your A to Z and noticed that some don't have photographs. Is this because you don't have any photographs. If this is the reason why not ask members to submit specific photographs. Just an idea.

| | | Re: A to Z of British birds Hello Dai you have the right idea, where you see the gaps fill them, did you make a list ?
The Gallery editors being all volunteers(a big thank you for all their hard work)may not have the time, as WAB members are pretty prolific with their photography and they require a lot of work to sort and name

| | | Re: A to Z of British birds Likewise some of the reference areas within the A - Z need descriptions or there may be birds, mammals etc. missing for the same reason. Part of the concept and beauty of WAB is the ability for all of us to research and input info. (a joint effort). Very satisfying and a great help to others. Enjoy!

| | | Re: A to Z of British birds Why not put a list of species we are missing for the A-Z up on the photography forum then photographers can see what they've got and shoot to brief if necessary.
I know the Gallery editors are very busy but this could be done by a member - I'd do it myself but I am a bit over commited with design and fundraising stuff myself so perhaps someone else would like to volunteer ? Dai ?

| | | Re: A to Z of British birds Good idea Eeyore, but in the meantime go to the home page, click on British Birds, then A - Z at the bottom of the page, and see if there is a description/photo. Greenshank and Grey Heron are a couple to be going on with, as an example.
Same applies to mammals - picked at random Great Horseshoe Bat, Dormouse and everyone's favourite Grey Squirrel. This is particularly satisfying for those of us who cannot or do not take photos for whatever reason, but can contribute to the site by researching and then adding info.
Click on the edit button and then scroll down to the image input or various info boxes eg size, lifespan, habitat, food etc. and away you go.
I regularly use the library, internet and my own books to help and have gained such a lot from the exercise of being involved. Hope those of you who do likewise enjoy it.
And, you can do as much or as little as you like with each visit. It doesn't have to be the whole description of the particular bird or whatever at one go, add or edit whenever you have more info to contribute.
