Sparrow, advice needed asap...HELP!

Found a young female sparrow in my garden this afternoon, jus lying completely out in the middle of the lawn. Few small feathers scattered around, and she looked very stunned...so I assumed it was cats.

Gently picked her up, and saw no obvious wounds, or blood etc, was panting and just seemed very stressed. i've placed her in a shoe box with some bedding and water, and keeping it in a warm, quiet area in the house.

Jus wondered if anyone had any further advice on the issue or whats best to do? I know theres a limited chance of survival, but thought it was kinder to do so....rather than jus leave it

J,until some more advice comes in,try the first -aid advice i was given and which works for almost every creature that I have had to revive over the years ,pedigree chum. I kid you not,it seems to be a perfect food that all creatures will take and help to give them back a bit of strength.

We had a baby great tit stunned after it hit our window in work. It was lying around with beak open and we thought it was dead, however, we popped it into a bowl until it showed signs of life, then we put the bowl under a bush on a raised bed, it flew off eventually.

With a cat it can leave an infection from teeth, however, hopefully yours will be okay once it flies off.

PS hope i do not get in trouble for mentioning the brand name but the interests of our wild life come first.......i hope

thanks for the advice, had no "chum" so tried some sugared water, shes got through a cap full alreadly! seems to have perked up a little though reckon ill leave it till morning as shes still shivering, fingers crossed

able to update on that pretty quick, jus checked and sadly, it looks like the shock was jus too much! least it was peaceful i guess...think i'll stick to skinny hedgehogs having the run of the shed during the winter i with free "chum"

That's a sad outcome but more often than not inevitable. Great that you gave the Sparrow a fighting chance. Well done for trying your best, feel for you matey!

At least you made the last bit of time it had left with us a comfortable one under the circumstances, don't feel too bad you did really well. Stick around the wab site tho eh ?
