Re: Sparrowhawk

Hi Lincs & Deer Boy,

Thanks for watching - it really does show them in a different light, most people only ever see a flash of them raiding small birds from the garden and as a result some people dislike them. My Mum came round while I was editing the footage and her first reaction was aaaagh! - If she would have seen one taking a blue tit from her garden, I'm sure her reaction would have been different.

Sometimes we need more pieces of the puzzle before judging creatures, a more balanced view if you like, and it is quite rare to see them like this in the nest. The female even takes a large bone away from them as she knows they wouldn't manage it - instinct I guess, and the chicks are almost polite in waiting their turn.

A real treat to capture - thanks again for watching.

Cheers
Pete

Re: Sparrowhawk

A great thread, Lincs! Your garden seems a magnet for the Sparrowhawk! Great pics, thanks for sharing them. Hope the new job is going well!

Pete, your video is splendid. I was mesmerised by the feeding of the chicks! I will view the rest of the videos later when I have my coffee break! Thanks for sharing the videos! Great stuff!

Yeh job is going fine thanks. The garden does tend to attract the Sparrowhawks, probably because we are the only house around here to feed the birds every day, front and back. I'm not complaining though I love to see the Sprawks. We actually see them in the garden around once a week usually, often they just have a strike and fail, land on the fence looking gutted

Re: Sparrowhawk

Hi Keith & Pam,

Thanks for watching - glad you liked them. My new film is only taking a year to make! - it'll kill me by the time I'm finished.

Hi Lincs - you're a lucky chap getting Sparrowhawks in the garden that often. I've only had a couple of flash sightings in mine in 4 years - I had to drive to Cheshire to film them.

Thanks again,
Pete
