| | Help with some bird ID's Hello!
Spent a glorious Friday around Porthcawl, Wales. Was so nice to see the sun for one whole day. Came away pretty successful with various improved images of birds, including oystercatcher, ringed plovers, and turnstones. But I have a few that I need to verify the ID of, and one that I'm not really sure of at all.
The first two are what I believe are common redshanks as opposed to spotted redshanks, and the last image I have come to believe is a juvenile or female wheatear. There were loads of these suspected wheatears, but no males in sight?? Of course that doesn't mean anything, I simply must have missed them. Anyway, I'm looking for confirmation on the last one in particular.
Thanks!! |

Oops just read all your post now and you already said that

| | | Re: Help with some bird ID's I agree with your ids, nice shots! Also I'm not sure whether you knew this already but in the autumn male Wheatears are a buffy colour, similar to the females, and the black through their eye is also less extensive so they would've been quite easy to miss among the females and juveniles. I think your Wheatear may well be a male although probably a juvenile, it seems to have a bit of black around the eye.

| | | Re: Help with some bird ID's Really want to thank everyone for their help! Great to know I wasn't off the mark with the ID's. And thanks to Guy for that bit of information, I didn't know that about wheatears. I'll have to go through the other photos with that in mind.
I'll pass all your compliments on the photos to the photographer, my husband All my photos were not quite up to par this time around. |

| | | Re: Help with some bird ID's I had a go at viewing the thread in IE and I can't see the photos I posted in the opening post - BUT I can see the little red x's that were mentioned earlier.
Mozilla doesn't let me see red x's or anything in the original post.
Both IE and Mozilla see the photos when I reposted them later on. And I KNOW that the images were working when I first posted, as I and the ones who identified my birds at the beginning saw them. It's really weird, and I dont' understand. |
