Also yesterday I noticed my first large Starling flock.......another sign of autumn. |

| | | Re: Swallows getting ready to leave .... Quite a few Swallows purposely moving west at Rainham today, while the House + Sand Martins were more leisurely feeding.
Other signs of migration there were a couple of Spotted Flycatchers, a juvenile Cuckoo which landed on the river wall, a Tree Pipit, some Yellow Wagtails + a couple of Whinchats. |

Yes, I meant north. Every year they come hear at the end of summer. I assume it is those from the far north which fly down the channel and then head for the southernmost coast for a quick break before the next leg of their journey. |

The summer or rather lack of it I'm surprised they have stopped as long as they have
