Hobby's

just to let a few people know i visited otmoor rspb reserve last week and managed to see 3 hobbies together catching dragonflies, but too far to photograph, so if you need to see some get yourself down there. if anyone wants i can let you know which part of the reserve they were.

Saw some down at Thursley common ,lovely birds to watch, I actualy went to photograph Dragonflies and was hoping the Hobbys missed more than they caught, still, a great day for us all I think,

Re: Hobby's

Saw my first ever Hobby yesterday at Martin Mere and of course no pictures as it was moving very fast (as Hobbys do) and far away

Re: Hobby's

Nice one. They are a really exciting bird to watch when they're hunting.

Re: Hobby's

At Tring Reservoirs I've seen up to 11 hobbies (pedantic, moi?) in June, chasing the swifts but very rarely catching them.

That's alright Robin, the plural of Hobby, as in the bird, is Hobbys, as it's a name.

Cheers,

Adam

The monograph on the Hobby gives Hobbies as plural + is the way I've always written it; but at the end of the day we all know what we mean + language is fluid!

Re: Hobby's

A wonderful bird the hobby to view hunting!

I was transfixed watching one for the first time this year at my local (ish) Wildlife trust reserve in May! The second time I saw it at the same reserve it wasn't feeling hungry as it just perched on a dead tree with just the occasional circle of the Pools! Still a sight to see though!
