Interesting to note on my local patch that holds c10 breeding pairs of Nightingale that singing now appears to have stopped for the year. Just as they have stopped singing Skylarks have started in the field next to my house - I was listening to them singing non-stop from 04.30 this morning
Just back on the Nightingale I have noticed that as the breeding season progresses Nightingales seem to sing from more exposed perches - I wonder whether that is in desperation to attract a mate? Any ideas?
