I'm OK at identifying everyday common or garden birds, and as such, you can imagine the panic induced this morning by a black and pink bird landing in my garden. I managed to get my camera set up quick enough (at first - No flash card announced the camera  ) and obtain a few shots of this strange bird and e-mailed them to a friend who identifed it for me, and I understand it is a rare visitor to Strathspey.

That's a stunning bird, and a good pic too! You should report it to the wire services, though you might get your garden invaded by twitchers!  |

Wow lucky you! I think its a pretty rare visitor to most of the UK - I have certainly never seen one! |

Wow, what a find! I had a quick look at one of the bird sites and the last sighting was on the 08/08/08 in Argyll on Mull. It's pretty stunning! You're so lucky
