| | | Any Kingfisher tips? Hi,
I've seen a Kingfisher locally on 3 occasions now and yesterday I watched it perch and dive.
So far my plan for getting some shots is to get up at stoopid o clock, get to the spot before dawn and just wait it out. Any other advice or tips to improve my chances?
TIA |

TIA | Yeah Andy, stick your own perch in the ground at a good fishing point, works especially well if there are no suitable perches already in the area. Besides that, keep concealed if you can, and be patient!
......you'll hear them coming before you see them! |

The spot I have in mind I should be able to see it approaching from 200yds or more. It was fishing at a pond that has a stream running alongside it. The kingfisher fly down the stream to the pond and flew back the same way. I've picked out a spot where I can see it fly down to the pond and get a good view of the branch it fished from. Being ever optimistic I figured I might even try for some head on flight shots as well |

TIA | Definitely worth getting up early. All the Kingfisher shots I have managed have been shortly after dawn. As Alan said you will usually hear them whistle just before they appear which gives you those few seconds to be ready.
