| | | Mid-Wales trip Just got back today and am in the process of sorting out my pictures which i will post on here as soon as i pick out the best ones but suffice to say my first day was an absolute stunner.A morning stroll on the sunday produced a Kingfisher, which motivated me to make the stroll a regular occurence, and as i was stood there a woman i had met the night before when i arrived came up to me and i told her of my good fortune only to be stunned by her reply, which was her sighting of an otter just down the river.
Well as you can imagine, having never seen an otter in my life,i removed myself to the location she had described, and sure enough, there was the otter swimming nonchalantly without a care in a pool just below me.the whole experience lasted only about 2 minutes but was nonetheless the biggest highlight of an altogether wonderful week, and yes i did have my camera, so more to come on that later, and in the afternoon i had some terrific views of a Red Kite up at Clarewen Reservoir as it reeled below me as i stood on the top of the dam,it almost spoiled me for my visit to Gigrin later that day but only almost

| | | Re: Mid-Wales trip Sounds like you had a great time Frank, not long ago a group of us were camped near the bottom of the Elan valley and heard rumours of otters in the area, but being busy with other business, I didn't have too much time to investigate, or get to Gigrin for that matter, maybe another time, so for this reason I look forward to seeing your pictures.

| | | Re: Mid-Wales trip Sounds like you had great trip Frank. The Elan Valley is well worth exploring...we have friends that live close and on our last visit we took a trip out that way. No Kingfishers but Red Kite, Redstart, Whinchat,Meadow and Tree Pipit and Dipper.
