| | | Which birds would you like to colonise? Ok with the news of the Cattle egret joining the little egret as a UK breeding species (almost certain the cattle egret will colonise) Which bird or birds would you love to see colonise in the UK & why - hopefully reasonable & probable answers ;-)
For me it would be a toss between
1. Snowy Owl, how magnificent does this bird look, such a graceful bird & would love to have it as a UK breeder (although it may well be breeding this year in Lewis)
2. Great Northern Diver . another beautiful bird & too hear it's night call, sounding like a distant wolf, awesome, not sure when the last time this bird bred in the UK ^ ^
yeah I'm bored .....

| | | Re: Which birds would you like to colonise? Love the Great Northern Diver, we called them "Loons" in the US, and it is the state bird of my old home state (Minnesota) in the US. I miss their mournful calls, something I'll not be forgetting. I'd love the chance to see one here, it would be a bonus to see them breed here.
I love snowy owls, and it would be a real pleasure to have these guys take up breeding here in the UK.
I dont' know if I have a personal preference as to which bird I'd like to see take up breeding here, though I think I'd support any bird that used to breed here that no longer does. |

| | Re: Which birds would you like to colonise? Hi Dae,
Well, nothings impossible, I think there is a pair of Cattle Egrets breeding somewhere to the south west, so this might be a common occurance one day, white egrets are becomming more common too, ( I received this info through an e-mail from one of the many wildlife things i get sent, cant remember which one though)
