| | Unknown fledgling id help please. I rescued a fledgling from my cat last night. It had a scratch on the back of his neck but other than that seems to be doing well and is feeding regularly. I dug up a few Worms but more difficult now the ground is so dry after recent weather, but have plenty of cat food as advised by my vet. Have it in an old hamster cage with shredded paper and am using tweezers to feed it while dripping water drops from my finger. Will be taking it to a local sanctuary soon when I have access to a car. I think it might be a blackbird. It's feathers and tail feathers are not fully formed and it's belly is completely bald. It has some orangey feathers on it's neck under it's beak. Any advice would be welcome but don't say get rid of my cat because I have 3 and they were all rescued. |

Not sure what the species might be but I'd only advise what you are already planning to do - getting it to an expert asap, would your local wildlife sanctuary be able to come and get it? Cats claws have a great deal of bacteria and it is very likely your little bird will get an infection. The local wildlife rescue will have access to correct medication and will have experiance in administering it and treating shock which can also easily kill a small bird. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
