| | | 30 second kingfisher On Monday, I showed my wife where I had previously sighted a pair of kingfishers on the River Great Ouse. I have often complimented others on their kingfisher pictures, always complaining that all I ever saw was a blue flash or, last week, one for 15 seconds.
It must have the guv'nors' presence because, suddenly from behind the foliage on the opposite bank, a kingfisher appeared. What is more, it actually sat on a branch for 30 seconds, allowing me to get several shots of the same pose before it flew off. We saw it twice afterwards but only fleetingly.
I could wish that the twigs were not in the way; but hey, I am not complaining - this is my nearest and best shot yet - however, I do think GeoffH's crown is extremely safe.

| Me too up until, last week when we were at Slimbridge and we sat and watched a kingfisher coming and going for about two hours. He sat on the same branch many times but just too far away to get a decent shot, unlike yours. Well done

Well done on a lovely photo , twig or no twig , it's a natural shot , they don't pose for you for very long so make the best of it ,
