The RSPB: Woodland birds in decline
In the "bad news", my own experience is that Willow Tit, Spotted Flycatcher and Wood Warbler have becoming very difficult to find each year but Pied Flycatcher still seem to be around in the areas of Wales that I have traditionally looked for them. This year I have seen both flycatcher species and Wood Warbler but no Willow Tits so far.
With regard to the "good news", Stonechats and Common Buzzards definitely appear to have increased, even in my part of the world, but I have to say that I have not really noticed any difference in Nuthatch numbers.
We all live in different parts of the country so I guess our experiences will also differ. Add to that a very strange climate in recent years, then the picture now and in the future is likely to be very confusing!
