Too late for Herring Gull?

There is a pair of Herring Gulls that nest on a chimney two doors up from me every year. They had one chick this year. The chick was really big and almost flying, but got over zealous and jumped off the flat roof.
It stayed walking around on the ground for a couple of days, trying to fly but not quite managing it. Now it has gone, probably a Fox.
The parent bird seems to have started to sit on the nest again. Isn't it too late to start again?

I would have thought so, griffgrouch.
Gulls invariably just have one brood a year.
