| | | unidentified exotic bird I was out today looking for wild flowers at Rainton Meadows when I noticed this bird sittling on a partly submerged branch a little way from the bank on Joe's Pond. It didn't seem unduly concerned at my presence. I was about 8 m from it and spent around 10 minutes approaching and photographing it. It was still there when I left.
I couldn't get any closer and the picture had to be taken into the sun. I couldn't estimate the size beyond saying it was smaller than a pigeon and larger than a Blackbird.
Does anyone know what it is, a 'foreigner' perhaps? |

| | | Re: unidentified exotic bird definitely a cockatiel, hope it survives as escapees so often become prey to Sparrowhawks etc
