| | | Garden visitor pictures. Just a few I took yesterday - unfortunately was very overcast so was on ISO 800 to get a reasonable shutter speed. Rather lucky to have a regular nuthatch too now so will be able to improve alot on this shot..Really like the pattern the light is making through the trees on the young blue tit shot.
Hope you like, critique welcome as always..

| | | Re: Garden visitor pictures. Nice shots Toby. I like the lighting on the Nuthatch too. Really good pics especially considering the fairly high ISO level. Did you set the perch up or is that just how it is in the garden? You have some great visitors, not had nuthatch or Woodys in mine yet |

Haven't seen a Nuthatch since I moved my Mum away from her rather nice garden, and I do miss them. |

GME - I've "planted" an old dead ash tree in one corner of the garden. I drilled holes in the sides into which I push peanuts and I have a fat block hanging on it. It works really well, gets alot of visitors and I placed it far enough away from the foliage at the edge of the garden to get a clean background when shooting with my lens wide open.
I plan to do a "welcome to my garden" type thread - with pictures, just for fun but maybe others will get ideas from it and hopefully will post their gardens to share ideas too.

| | | Re: Garden visitor pictures. Thanks, I did wonder with the perch. Glad it works. Your idea on the garden thread is a good one, though I think there is something similar here: WAB Members' Garden Photos
Be good if you did a tips sort of section
I would like to see your pics though, and I'm sure others would too

TobyH | great shots and what a good idea Toby, we get many assorted birds including Woodpeckers in the garden but this time of year it's very difficult to get a clear picture
