Does anyone know if it will do my garden birds any harm if I feed them the contents of a way-out-of-date box of chocolate-coated biscuits I found at the back of a cupboard (I think they were a Christmas present from 2 years ago!)  |

I'm not sure if the chocolate in the biscuits would harm the birds or not, I do know that chocolate is very harmful to dogs. I agree with Nightshade, I'd bin them just to be on the safe side.
Question, how could you forget about chocolate biscuits? Mine would be gone in thirty seconds!

Chocolate is a highly palatable food and many birds seem to love chocolate almost as much as people. Chocolate is not bad for birds just because it is high in calories and fat though, it contains a compound called theobromine. Theobromine is toxic to dogs and cats as well, but birds, again due to their smaller size and more rapid metabolism, may be even more susceptible to its toxic effects. |

I don't know whether it would harm the birds but I am sure they would not harm me. I will eat anything with chocolate on Have you tried chocolate coated ants?
Seriously though, they may be a bit stale but I doubt if they would be harmful for you to eat.
As Tracey and Ron suggest, 30 seconds max in this house!

Even though chocolate biscuits may not have much real chocolate in them both theobromine and caffeine found in chocolate could be very harmful to birds so it's not worth the risk. |
