How Does A Young Sprawk Squawk

What noise does a young Sparrowhawk make? as we now think we may have had a pair of them nesting in an Oak tree up the garden which has a large old cockatiel box high up in it, for over a week a different times we have heard a strange bird call but as there's Magpies around we just thought another poor baby bird bites the dust as it's been such a plaintiff call, but it's been constant and from the same place, we have been getting alot of Hawk kills around the place and have seen one around the chicken pen which is close to the Oak tree then yesterday afternoon there was alot of activity and there was three of them

Re: How Does A Young Sprawk Squawk

I think all the commotion was the young Sparrowhawk fledging as after seeing two then three Sparrowhawks for a couple of days flying from the Oak tree to the back field and back, they now seem to have gone, mind you we didn't realise they were so close until we heard the young one calling, will they return to the nest site or will that be it now, I would have liked to have got a picture but too much greenery

Re: How Does A Young Sprawk Squawk

How wonderful to have them nesting so close. I can imagine the noise when they were leaving the nest. Maybe they will hang around in the area for a while, keep a look out for them.

not seen them but they are still about as a large ring of feathers appeared near the fence sometime yesterday afternoon, looks like they bagged a pigeon .
