Went to London on Sunday and could not resist calling in on the Chilterns off J6 of the M40 to see the Red Kites.I don't know whether I am lucky but I seem to see loads every time I visit this spot.In fact on the way back I had a count of 30 between J5 and J6 which is a record for me.
Here are some pics I took which I am quite pleased with as I am hopeless at flying pics.

Great pics! Kites have started to visit my area Richmond N Yorks. We are between two release sites, one site 40 miles north at Gateshead and the other at Harewood Estate, a similar distance away as Gateshead. It wont be long before they settle here!

Here in North Leeds, we see them several times each day !
In fact I have a bet with my Son that I can get a photo of one in our garden. I've used some bits and pieces from the local butcher to try and entice them down. The only success so far is a quick swoop and grab... far too quick for my little canon ! Getting them to settle is not going to be easy. |

Apart from my annual visits to the traditional stronghold of mid Wales and to the re-introduction site on the Black Isle in northern Scotland, I see most of my Red Kites in the Chilterns as Max has. http://www.wildaboutbritain.co.uk/fo...highlight=kite

Hi Nightshade,
Kit used :- Canon 350D with Sigma 170-500 lens.I,ve just sold the lens and have ordered a Canon 400 f5.6 L lens and am hoping I have done the right thing.

Nice pictures - Ive just got back from gigrin - over 1000 pics to sort through but should have some up to galleries soon. Got back to my mums on thursday (via portmadog to try for ossie) looked out of window and there was a red kite - on the bird table chowing down on the fat feeder. - you're right they're everywhere.
Incidentally the 100-400 IS goes for about £1k - though you can get it cheaper , see boddies thread on the subject.
