| | Do Owls build nests ?? My ten year old daughter has asked me today, "do Owls build nests or do they just nest in boxes and holes in trees". Something I never gave much thought to before but I promised her I would find the answer and where better to look than on WAB.

Tawny & Barn Owls nest in holes in trees or nest boxes.
Little Owls nest in holes in trees or buildings.
Short-eared Owls nest on the ground in a scrape made in open country, sometimes lined with grass & feathers.
Long-eared Owls nest in old corvid nests, usually in conifers. |

| | | Re: Do Owls build nests ?? Don't know how true the following is, which I found on Google:
Long-eared owls nest in trees, usually in stick nests built by other species. They may occasionally build a nest of their own, or use a nest located in an old tree stump or on the ground, but this is uncommon.
So maybe they do build their own when they really need to |
