If they can catch it they will eat it.
I have even seen them try to eat a full grown Rabbits, Try being the operative word, I took this poor quality pic of a Heron trying to eat a Rabbit, he made a number of unsuccessful attempts to swallow it then gave up.  |

| | | Re: Amazing picture of Heron catching Duckling Nice catch by the photographer. I always watch closely when a brave mallard of other duckk takes her brood close to one of the herons in regents park/hyde park/ken gardens.
As previously stated (and show with a Rabbit!  ) there not fussy - Ive seen them take cheese, tinned salty sardines/sprats and even bread. I read that one took a starling in Regents too! Now if only we could get them to show interest in the grey squirrels....  |
