| | | First goldfinch on feeders and sparrowhawk visit! The other day I noticed a young goldie on the hanging peanut feeder! So I went straight to the shop and filled the other feeder with sunflower heart, so far we have had many visits of the goldfinches. Because we have a lot of little birds in the garden now the old sparrowhawk came again this morning and narrowly missed a greeny
P.S I hope to get some pics |

| | | Re: First goldfinch on feeders and sparrowhawk visit! The goldies are charming little birds and very fiesty at times holding their own with the Greenfinches and Sparrows. We get anywhere up to a dozen goldies at any one time on the feeders
Sparrowhawks are sometimes the price we have to pay for encouraging the small birds into the garden, but they have to eat as well and that's nature

| | | Re: First goldfinch on feeders and sparrowhawk visit! We have them here, and when a flock arrives (8-10) their calls are so musical
If the feeders are empty it all goes quiet, then when I go out with refills the calling starts up one at a time until the flock reassembles
I hope yours stay with you they are so colourful
