I'm just back from enjoying the Peregrines at Malham Cove in the Yorkshire Dales. The two chicks were sitting quietly until the male brought food to the female, who was on a ledge nearby. The chicks were flapping their wings frantically and the remaining down in their plumage was being shed by the bucket load. Just to annoy the chicks some more, she ate the meal.
Next to appear ,were two abseillers who started to hook their ropes up ready to descend down near the nest. They were so focused on their task that they did not see a number of signs about an exclusion zone for climbers and they failed to hear a whistle being blown to attract their attention. One of the wardens had to go up and politely ask them not to descend. As we left, one of the adults circled higher and higher above the cove-a great sight!
