| | | strange noise/call from bird? Hi All!
Was wondering if you can help...what bird makes a wooop wooop wooop type noise, is low sounding; not highpitched; and kind of reminds me of a howler monkey! I know this sounds strange, but can't think of how else to discribe it, it sounds like a medium to large type bird, not a blue-tit!
Any ideas would be great, I have heard it for several days in our woodland garden in afternoon and just can't think what it would be.
Also a lovely treat was hearing a nightjar in the garden (heard it last year also) last night at 10pm, what a strange sound it makes!
I'm really getting into all this bird watching stuff, its really exciting!!!
Thanks so much!

Think another site has answered this for me, even from my strange discription! They think its a wood pigeon so mistery solved!
Best wishes!

Cheers,
Adam | Stock doves to me are more woo-oo-oop, woo-oo-oop, woo-oo-oop. But then again, bird noises can be rather tricky to articulate!

Penny | Nightjar heard from the garden (swoon), that is some doorstep tick. I feel nauseous with envy!

Regards, Chris | That sounds like a top ten hit from the late 1950's
