| | | Peregrine Falcon Went to the Arndale Centre in Manchester Yesterday, The RSPB men were there and had their spotting scopes pointing up at the centre and on the Arndale Sign there was a peregine Falcon. We looked at it through the Scopes. He said it has Raised 4 Young in a nest on the premeir hotel roof. He showed us photos off it catching a pigeon and some off the young ones first flights. Very interesting day out.

| | | Re: Peregrine Falcon That's fantastic, wish I'd have been there. Peregrines are turning up in quite a few towns and cities at the moment.

| | | Re: Peregrine Falcon It was Great to see a Peregrine Falcon an added bonus to my shoping trip. The last time I saw one was at Martin mere and a lot further away than this one.

| | | Re: Peregrine Falcon I read in the news today that 3 peregrine falcon chicks have been stolen from a nest at Beeston Castle, Cheshire
Apparently it is thought that they have been stolen to be used in falconry. |

| | | Re: Peregrine Falcon I have seen peregrines on a number of occasions on my walks, indeed once I got within 10 feet of one sitting in a tree.Beautiful birds.
There are a couple of peregrines in Southend town centre that are seen regularly around the offices near the court house I believe.
Yes its awful that people are prepared to take the chicks,it makes my blood boil

Apparently it is thought that they have been stolen to be used in falconry. | Who said and what proof have they got that falconers are to blame
On another forum a chap that lives 200 yards away said they have not nested there this season, and its late most would have fledged. I hope its not another Scam by the RSPB. Its Funny just when Defra are in talks to de register them

| | | Re: Peregrine Falcon There are all sorts of dangers facing Peregrines. There is a pair nesting on the top of Bolton town hall and although they have their share of people desperate to see them there have been some people with very angry feelings towards them, in some cases calling for the birds to be shot as in WW2. They're a beautiful Bird that deserve to be protected, definately not persecuted. It's sad that these feelings still exist.
